In order to get that inheritance, though, there’s one stipulation: marriage.Įven with his request, I’m tempted to stick to my original plan of getting as far from my wretched family as possible, and letting them fight it out.īut then I run into a tall drink of scattered mess outside of a wedding who’s in desperate need of a date, and the pieces click into place. He’s reworked his entire will so I’m set to inherit far more than I'm entitled to, and all because he’s asked me to use that money for “good”. One letter from my dearly departed grandfather, and suddenly I’m on a husband hunt. Until my fake date cancels minutes before the ceremony. ![]() Hire a guy with an online presence so impressive they’ll be desperate to welcome me back into the elitist fold, and roll into the wedding with the kind of confidence I’ve never felt a day in my life. Only, it’s kinda hard to be a success when you’re a walking trainwreck. My parents turned their backs on me and I’ve done everything since to become successful and show them what they lost. ![]() Being invited to my cousin’s wedding really shouldn’t be such a big deal except, oh yeah, I haven't seen my family for a decade. ![]()

Here are some mini reviews: The plot summary gave almost no information and I really didn’t know if this was a mystery or paranormal series. I had put off reading these books for a while because they seemed a little… not Lauren-y? I like books about memory loss and the aftereffects, but this series seemed to weird and creepy for me. That was definitely the case for the Mara Dyer trilogy. I love getting addicted to a world and seeing what happens post-cliffhanger in the next book. It takes a lot for me to really keep engaged and read “the same thing” back-to-back like this… So when I do it, you know it’s worth it! I was definitely late to the party on this one and have no one to blame but myself. As you know, I love to binge a good series when I can. ![]() 6/9/2023 0 Comments A fistful of charms hardcover![]() ![]() ![]() It's fun at first, even with dealing with a human-sized Jenks (you cannot believe how much trouble a six-foot pixy can cause, especially when he looks like a supermodel), but the road trip quickly turns dangerous when confronting an old love becomes a fight for survival.įor seeing Nick Sparagmos again is the least of Rachel's problems - the ancient, mystical statue he has stolen holds the key to sinister, wild magic that can change humans into Weres. He’s a builder, a carpenter much lauded in Baltimore for his craftsmanship. But it didn’t have that uniqueness and originality of style or perspective that I expect in a Booker contender.Ī Spool of Blue Thread features the elder Whitshank generation “Junior” and his wife Linnae, about whom little is known, even by their children. It’s a very finely observed study of characters and the intricacies of familial relationships that held my attention over 400 pages.
